Gluten-free dining at Gys

If you’ve visited Gys in the past, you might know that everything on our menu was gluten-free except for the bread. We have good news: we are now completely gluten-free! We only have a few beers and oat milk that contain gluten. Of course, we also have gluten-free beer and (plant-based) milk without gluten.


In out kitchen we
no longer process gluten.

The bread we now serve as standard is gluten-free. Since the spring of 2024, we have been working with Bakkerij Pouwer Desem. Caroline bakt met veel liefde en plezier heerlijk glutenvrij desembrood voor ons! In deze bakkerij worden geen gluten verwerkt.

Gys received the quality mark 'Lekker glutenvrij'

Gys was inspected and audited by the NCV in February 2024. As a result, we have received the ‘Lekker Glutenvrij’ Gys was inspected and audited by the NCV in February 2024, and we are proud to announce that we have earned the ‘Lekker Glutenvrij’ certificate. This certification confirms that we meet all the safety standards and protocols set by the NCV for gluten-free food. It means that our restaurant is a safe dining option for people with celiac disease. Restaurants with the ‘Lekker Glutenvrij’ certificate are regularly inspected by the NCV and undergo annual evaluations by an independent audit firm.

Eating at Gys with an other allergy

At Gys, we believe it is important for our guests to eat safely. Therefore, we are open and transparent about the preparation of our dishes, so that guests with intolerance, allergy or celiac disease can decide for themselves what they can or cannot eat.

There are a few allergens we do not cook with:

  • Shellfish
  • Fish
  • Crustaceans
  • Gluten (people with celiac disease – read more above)

Please note: all our dishes may always contain traces of allergens, as we do not have an allergen-free kitchen.

We employ hygienic measures, such as washing hands, using clean utensils and cleaning the kitchen worktop. Unfortunately, despite our efforts, we cannot guarantee that our dishes are 100% free of allergens.
